Life is so
full of interesting stuff to do, we love our work and we strive to excel at it,
right? But we want to make sure to do more while investing less resources, meaning
energy and time. And by this, I don’t mean running around living a hectic
lifestyle, always busy, busy, busy. Quite the contrary, we need to be able to
complete our must-do tasks in a way that we end up with enough energy and time
to enjoy the pleasures of social life, family and, yes, some alone time too.
Luckily, there
are actually some things we can do to trick our brains into feeling high and
achieve that much sought goal of being more productive. Take note:
1. Give yourself constant affirmations
How we talk
to ourselves makes all the difference. Talking to ourselves in a positive,
affirmative voice it’s like having a constant motivator in our head. Try it!
Even if you feel silly at first, in time you will do it unconsciously and your
whole mindset will improve.
2. Reward yourself for each accomplishment
Take a
moment to appreciate every task completed, whether small or big. Make a mental map of your day
and see every accomplishment like a milestone reached. Treat yourself with a
short break, a juicy piece of fruit or go outside for some fresh air, and make
sure to really enjoy it.
3. Prioritize quick tasks
Tackle
those 2-minute tasks first as this will make your brain feel more efficient and
get on a faster pace, eager to complete more activities.
4. Value your time
Start
questioning what you invest your precious time on. Some things are just not
really worth it. Like, do you really need to read all those tweets?
5. Music yes, lyrics no
Listening
to music while getting down to work can add a positive energy to the ambience
and boost your spirit. But lyrics can be distracting as part of our brain is
busy paying attention to them, although we think it isn’t. So stick to
instrumental or new age music.
6. Try “no chair” meetings
When people
sit in a chair they get comfortable and tend to space time to actually talk
about important issues. Consider calling for a stand-up meeting to maximize time
and cut to the chase.
So that’s
that! Hopefully this hacks will help you add more productivity to your life and make the most of it. Can you think of any more tricks that work for you?
